Hey everybody,
I wanted to tell you about a special project that we worked on in the brew
ery today.
One of the fun parts of working in a small brewpub is the ability for us to experiment and try different crazy things with our beer, and today we took full advantage of it. A week and a half ago we brewed a Saison, our Belgian farmhouse ale, which is has notes of mandarin oranges, pepper and has a dry finish. Saison is one of my favorite beer styles and are great for summertime drinking, but we had more in mind for this beer than that……
So today Derek and I, chopped up 6 cases of fresh pineapples, which ended up being about 65 lbs and added the fruit to the fermenting beer in a nylon bag. By the end of the day the brewery was littered with pineapple chunks and everything was sticky with pineapple juice. Hopefully the beer turns out well and we can all enjoy some soon. Only time will tell….
