Drink Beer, Help Japan

By now most of you are familiar with our Rising Sun IPA.  It’s an American IPA hopped with 100% Sorachi Ace hops from Japan.  This beer has become one of the most popular I’ve ever brewed in my 8 years at Iron Hill.  It’s been so well liked, that several of our other locations have started making it.  Bob, our brewer in Media is one of them.  Those of you that know Bob know that he’s got a heart as big as his beard.  He can look big and scary, but he’s a teddy bear.  When the earthquakes and subsequent disasters hit Japan, Bob started looking for ways to help out.  He figured since we sold so much Rising Sun, it would be an appropriate vehicle for some relief.

We’ll be tapping our latest batch of Rising Sun at noon on Friday April 15th, here and at every Iron Hill location.  100% of the proceeds from the Rising Sun sold on that day will be donated to the Red Cross for the Japanese relief effort.  Some people do bike-a-thons or walk-a-thons to raise money for charity.  This is much easier.  All you have to do is come and drink some beer!  And you already do that!  See you on the 15th.

Cheers,

Chris

  1. Steve says:

Any chance you’ll be bringing back Rising Sun sometime in the future? I had it last weekend and I’ve been dying for more.

  2. Chris says:

Actually Steve, it’s still on tap, but it won’t be for long! The last keg of the batch you’re speaking of is on tap now. It won’t last the weekend. We’ll be brewing that beer pretty frequently, probably every other batch of IPA will be Rising Sun. Also, look for the release of “Second Rising” our double Rising Sun at our second anniversary party in July.

    Cheers,

    Chris
