It seems like the pumpkin craze hits a little earlier every year. Everyone’s trying to get their stuff out just a week or two before their competition. The coffee shops have been rocking their pumpkin lattes for weeks now and the breweries their pumpkin ales. I’ve been a bit busy with my Oktoberfest to get my pumpkin ales out that early, but don’t worry, they’ll be here soon. Last year’s pumpkin ale roll-out was the biggest beer event in the company, edging out even our famed Belgium Comes to West Chester. Despite that, we’re going to ratchet things up a couple notches this year. Last year we rolled out the Great Imperial Pumpkin Ale in bottles and on draft, along with our Pumpkin Ale and a limited quantity of our Bourbon Imperial Pumpkin Ale. This year we’ll do all that plus premier Cinderella’s Carriage, our Belgian Pumpkin Ale and tap a keg of Yunkin’ Punkin’ from our friends across the river at Manayunk Brewpub. In addition to that I may have a couple more treats hidden up my sleeve for later in the afternoon. Things will kick off at noon on Saturday, September 29th with the ceremonial tapping of the pumpkin head. As always we’ll be offering a sampler, this year’s will include all 5 of the styles listed above. Chef Mike will be dreaming up an entirely pumpkin-themed features menu, and we’ll once again feature the sounds of the Cartoon Christmas (Pumpkin) Trio. And of course we’ll be playing It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown on the bar TV all day.
AND, Don’t forget to bring your jack-o-Lantern! We’ll be doing a pumpkin carving competition again this year. Bring your artwork for a chance to win some great prizes!
See you then!
Chris
